Action Space Travel
Virgin Galactic is preparing for mass space flight.
It is planning a space flight terminal in New Mexico with a design that has the impression of science-fiction designed by the architect Norman Foster and due to be completed by the end of 2011.
When this is successfully achieved, the space experience will become available for tourists – but only the very wealthiest – who must be prepared to pass health tests and three days of training prior to flight.
Initial cost of a ‘return ticket’ approximates $350,000 for the two and a half hour trip. There is no mention of a ‘one way’ ticket!
There are others beside Richard Branson indulging in the futuristic vision to exploit commercial aspects of the tourism potential of space technology but Virgin Galactic seems the first to make plans concrete.
