The use of embryonic stem cells in the search for miracle cures for stubborn diseases has met with considerable opposition, largely on the moral issue.

The research into the value of stem cells has been interrupted because of the source of the stem cells being human embryos, There has been a great deal of moral argument and controversy amongst scientists and the public alike concerning this line of scientific enquiry.

Now has come an important breakthrough.  The exercise to find a way to turn skin cells into stem cells has been successful. It has been accomplished since 2005 but has recently been refined and is now receiving a great deal of publicity.

With the fact that there is no thought of using human embryos again, there is a different attitude towards this line of research that has proven to offer considerable relief to patients with serious diseases. It is understandable that such a change in attitude and acceptance of the research, has a different complexion altogether when we consider than a little of our own skin can be transformed to provide the essential stem cells required for our own body remedy.

The new style stem cells are healthy versions of our own skin cells and the most remarkable aspect of the newest discoveries in the field, demonstrate the potential for modification of our own skin cells so that cell tissue can be used for application in all parts and organs of the body.

Recent work has excited scientists to offer an entirely different perspective to medicine of the future.

However, there are some reservations and certain grey areas that must be fully investigated before we are advised that the technique is really the wonder medical treatment it seems.
